“A tradition without creativity is in danger of being mistaken for a museum”

“Roger was a fantastic caller and did such a great job of filling the dance floor for almost every dance. Suddenly it was impossible to keep even our most uncoordinated friends away from the dance floor!”

- Emma & Alex Heath (MoonDance wedding ceilidh)

“I heard and I saw that your workshop and dance-calling were very inspiring to the people. ... Thank you very much!!”

Mark Soehngen

“I really appreciated your skill, versatility and flexibility in all your roles as musician, workshop leader, MC and trainer.” - Rachel Elliott (Education Officer, EFDSS)

“It was a real joy to have seen you perform. It was amazing music, and just a great night, but I also felt that I really learned a huge amount.” -  Jonathan Mason (Hove Folk Club)

“Just to say many thanks for the very enjoyable [improvised harmony] sessions at South Hill Park. I really enjoyed the sessions, as someone who had never sung in a group before I found your method of teaching very encouraging “ Lesley Landrey

“Thank you for your wonderful folk workshops with our children on Tuesday. You worked so hard occupying large numbers of children in each session, with such relevant and inspiring material. All the children were engaged and clearly enjoyed their time with you” - Sue Bint (Churcher’s College Junior School)

Since the demise of TAPS, a casualty of Arts Council England’s funding cuts in 2008, Roger continues to deliver and develop, as a freelance artist, the projects, based on English traditions, which he devised for the organisation. He is also available for performance, creative work and as a tutor.

A range of intercultural projects is also delivered by Roger and Musa Mboob under the name of Boka Halat.

Based in Berkshire Roger has worked and continues to work throughout England and Europe.
